Welcome to Prospect Plant Nursery, a small independent nursery set on a working farm near Suffield, just outside Scarborough, North Yorkshire. Opened in 2023, we’re passionate about plants — and we love helping gardeners and growers discover something a little different.
Specialising in the Rare and Unusual
We focus on rare and unusual varieties you won’t often find in larger garden centres. Whether you’re looking for something to brighten a shady corner, fill a sunny border, or thrive in tricky soil, we’ll help you find the right plant for your space.
We stock a hand-picked range of hardy flowering perennials, grown on site from young plants, seed, cuttings, or divisions. The focus is on quality and distinctiveness. We also offer a smaller selection of shrubs, trees, alpines, and herbs.
Advice You Can Trust
We love helping people find the right plant for the right place. From dry shade to heavy clay or coastal wind — we’ve tackled it all. Just drop in for a friendly chat and we’ll be happy to offer advice on what will thrive in your garden.
Hanging Baskets and Bedding Plants
We supply bedding plants and hanging baskets to local businesses. If you’ve ever stopped for fish and chips on Scarborough Seafront and admired the baskets and troughs at Winking Willy’s and other seafront businesses — they came from us, and we’re proud to say so.
